The Born To Assist Foundation strives to impact the communities it serves by using its resources and passion for philanthropy to enhance and promote education, health, sports and social responsibility for youth and families. In 2014, Tich established the Born To Assist Foundation to highlight his dedication both to the sport of basketball, and to academic and career achievement. This was in an attempt to give back to the communities that nurtured him from his days as a high school student-athlete to a university star at the University of Pretoria. The foundation focuses on enriching the communities it services through initiatives that include a Young Achievers Initiative, dedicated to the memory of Tom Blacklock – his university teammate and good friend who passed away in 2014 . The scholarship will empower a young student athlete and help with his/her sporting and academic needs. The Born To Assist Foundation partners with other charitable initiatives in the pursuit to empower youth and enable them to have hope for a future. The foundation also sponsors and supports literacy initiatives, mentor-ship programs, youth basketball clinics , holiday giving and emergency preparedness initiatives. The foundation is driven by a desire to pay it forward-to repay the good done for us by doing the same for other people

“I do not pretend to give such a deed; I only lend it to you. When you meet with another honest Man in similar Distress, you must pay me by lending this Sum to him; enjoining him to discharge the Debt by a like operation, when he shall be able, and shall meet with another opportunity. I hope it may thus go thro’ many hands, before it meets with a Knave that will stop its Progress. This is a trick of mine for doing a deal of good with a little money.”
